Hayride at the Farm 2011

This year the weather was perfect for Uncle Dan and Aunt Susan's annual Hayride/Weiner Roast!! This year herding sheep and horseback riding was added to the day of fun!!  Susan and Janet spoiled Addison and Ayla yet another time!!  Ayla riding the horse, very brave!!

The sheep Brian and Trouble follow the horses everywhere so Adam and Janet rode the horses to another pasture to attempt to put the sheep into it. 

Susan, Addison, Ayla and I walked up to the other pasture, Ayla rode with Daddy back.

Addison rode with Janet back....... and the sheep got out of the fence and followed us back!! They were quite funny little fellows!!

The scarecrow made his annual appearace, Ayla was sooooooo excited, she heard the tractor coming and couldn't stand still she loved it!!

                            We enjoyed the hayride it was a perfect night, a great hayride and fire!! Thanks for another fun year Uncle Dan and Aunt Susan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!





On the way home we received a phone call that a little boy in Addison's class was hit by a car and didn't survive, he was a twin and had a brother in the 2nd grade.  Please pray for his family, and friends and for the teachers at school tomorrow.  Addison is really having a hard time with it. 


Also Uncle Dwight had a pacemaker put it on Monday of last week and is in Rehab now, he could also us some prayers.

One more, Grandma Nancy has been sent back to Columbus again, not sure whats going on for sure this time, but she also needs some prayers. 

More Babies!!!

Here is a big announcement that has been released that I copied to share with all of you!! We went out to the Wilds on Saturday for the 1st Wildzfest.. It was a horrible day, coldy and windy they still had 1500 people but it would have been wonderful if the weather were better!! Can't wait until next year!  Addison and Ayla loved it anyway!!

BABY TIME AT THE WILDS

SECOND FOURTH-GENERATION RHINO CALF BORN AT THE WILDS, Cumberland, OH –

(Click on the attachment to view the image) The Wilds southern white rhino family has added another new member. On Oct. 2, a female named Zenzele gave birth to her second calf who appears to be strong and healthy alongside mom at the conservation center in southeast Ohio.

The birth of the calf is particularly significant as it is the second fourth-generation southern white rhino born at the Wilds.

“It is fascinating to watch the interaction between the mother and the rest of the herd in pasture. said Dan Beetem,” Director of Animal Management. “The wide open spaces at the Wilds allow us to manage our animals in a more natural social grouping. We think this environment is one of the key factors in the success of our program.”

The dam, Zenzele, was the very first rhino born at the Wilds in 2004. The sire, 9-year old Fireball, came to the Wilds in 2008 as part of the Southern white rhinoceros Species Survival Plan (SSP).

In 2009 the first fourth-generation white rhino born in human care was born at the Wilds. Three Indian rhinos have also been born there. There are currently ten southern white rhinoceros and six Indian rhinos at the Wilds.

Southern white rhinos were almost extinct in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Effective conservation efforts in the 1950s led to the exportation of individual wild white rhinos to zoos in North America and Europe. The current wild population is estimated to be about 17,500 animals however rhino poaching in Africa reached a 15-year high in 2009.

Calves are born after a gestation of 16 months. White rhinos can grow to be 4,000 pounds and six feet tall at their shoulder. Their natural habitats are plains or woodlands interspersed with grassy openings. Through reintroduction efforts, their current range in the wild is in southern and eastern African countries.

Their physical characteristics are two pointed horns and a wide mouth suitable for grazing. The name white rhinoceros originated from the Afrikaans word describing its mouth – weit, meaning wide. Early English settlers in South Africa misinterpreted the word weit for white.

Dad's Day

Ayla had her first Dad's Day at preschool.  She said it was super awesome and she did great, she said some other little boys cried when dad's left but she didn't!!  She said she now has 2 boyfriends, one at Tami's and one at school, Braxton and Tyson... not sure about this little girl!!

Soccer

Addison had his first soccer game today, he did great, its so much fun to watch him play!!  He knows lots of kids this year from previous years and now school friends!

He sang in Children's Choir in church this morning and did a wonderful job as well, he really knew the song and they have only had to practices!! Ayla can't do Children's Choir her gymnastics is on the same night and she is in with some older girls and is doing great! Her coach came out and told me how great she is going, she said she is going to be good. She is so little compared to the girls in her group, she comes to their shoulders, its soooo funny, she loves it though!! Ayla loves her ballet and tap also and she shows me some new moves each week, so far the school year is going great for the kids!!

We have had a busy last couple of weeks, our house has been torn up since we are getting new windows!! Finally!! We are also getting our slate roof repaired and new gutters, so finally a little of the outside makeover! Its all moving right along we just have lots of little messes!! I can't wait for it all to be finished!! We really love the man doing our windows!! The kids are going to miss him when he is finished!!

Wilds Fishing 2011

We planned kind of a last minute fishing trip this year. Grandpa John and Uncle Justin Joined us.  Ayla caught the biggest fish ( maybe 3lb ish) on her Dora Fishing pole,  I couldn't get a picture because  I was watching from the side, and they were on the other side of the lake.  Addison also caught a very nice sized fish on his Transformer pole! Uncle Justin said he caught lots of fish and had a good day!! The weather was soooo perfect!

Wild Babies

Tuedsay a baby boy zebra was born.. Ayla was exited because she had worn a zebra on her shirt that day!  ( also her 1st day of preschool)

Mom still has him seperated from the herd but he seems to be doing great!!  I thought all of the pictures were so cute so we put them all on!

Also a boy giraffe was born , almost exactly 3 weeks ago and we had not been able to see him yet, so we got to see him running around, We loved him as well, I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to!!  He is special because his name is Wai Big (a.k.a. Way Big form Ben 10) Addison thought it would be a cool name for him and Adam told Patty and they altered the spelling a little and so they call him Wai Big!

Ayla's First Day of Preschool

Proud Brother!! Addison told me that he prayed that Ayla would meet a new friend right away and that she would not watch a scary movie at nap!  What a sweet boy!!

She had a perfect day! She LOVED it and can't wait to go back, she said she had lots of friends and learned lots of new things!! All of her teachers said she did a great job!! We are soooo happy and hope it lasts!!! Addison loved preschool for a month and then had some trouble loving it, he never did really like rest time at school, hopefully Ayla LOVES it the entire time!! 

She loves her new bag and was proud to carry it!!
